About

I consider myself a skeptical enthusiast. In other words I really would like there to be little green men visiting us from time to time, but there seems to be absolutely no evidence to support such claims. However there are too many sightings of ufos and other strange things, especially from high quality witnesses, for all of them to be completely fabricated. I firmly believe that these can be explained by terrestrial phenomena. For example a Bigfoot witness may have only seen a large bear reaching for something in a tree. Bears can stand on two legs and even walk for a short distance. Improbable maybe, but more plausible than a cryptid. Sometimes our brains are presented with unfamiliar sights and interpret them incorrectly. Its like those ink blot things.

By the same token much debunkery that I come across is just as absurd as the claims made by ufo observers. Someone who witnesses a moving disc in the sky may be seeing a lenticular cloud or a 747 distorted by the atmosphere. However calling it Venus or a hallucination is not taking the matter seriously. Especially if Venus is not even out that night.

The purpose of this blog is not so much to scientifically debunk or investigate sightings or paranormal phenomena, but rather to discuss my own ideas about possible explanations.  Sometimes I have interesting ideas that I have not heard elsewhere.

I want to stress that the purpose is not to ridicule anyone or make fun, but to have fun and explore. Some people are charlatans its true. Other have seen something that they believe was profound. Many cases are impossible to prove or disprove. However it is interesting to discuss and speculate upon these cases. I strongly encourage discussion but please let us keep it civil. Personal attacks will not solve any argument. Too many times a good discussion is ruined by “how can you believe that, you are such an idiot!” or similar. In stead we need to agree to disagree.

Now on with the show!
